Between 2014 and 2018, dozens of my creations graced 'The Sheroine' Wall as part of the exhibition, "Toyism".
The Toyism exhibition redefined the toy, moving beyond its familiar, playful, and childlike function. Instead, it was presented as a powerful linguistic and emotional medium—a tool that enables the processing and articulation of our deepest feelings and the desires of the heart.
These works were a deep engagement with the landscapes of childhood and adolescence: charting the contours of void, despair, hidden motherly figures, sexuality, fear, longing, compassion, and vision. The dozens of connections established were, inherently, a metaphor for my own brokenness.
It was only upon installing the complete body of work together that a profound realization emerged: the discarded, broken toys stood as a mirror to my own fragmented self—a healing process of assembling and reassembling those shattered pieces into a cohesive, new whole.
Ultimately, the pieces displayed on 'The Heroine' Wall comprised the foundational process that gave birth to Popeyit.
